“We had exhausted every available treatment hoping to help our daughter. Nothing worked—then we found the Brain Treatment Center. MeRT changed everything for us.”
– PARENT OF MERT AUTISM PATIENT
The MeRT Approach: MeRT stands for Magnetic e-Resonance Therapy. MeRT uses gentle magnetic waves to stimulate the brain to make new connections and increase its activity where our imaging has shown it to be lacking. Best of all, MeRT can be used together with any other kind of therapy your child might be already undertaking and can improve progress with ABA and other therapies.
MeRT has shown some incredible results including improvements in mood and communication. Benefits can vary from child to child, depending on where they are on the Spectrum.
MeRT starts with a non-invasive EEG that shows us exactly what areas of the brain need help. Every patient is different and every patient gets a treatment that is exactly tailored to boost the connections they specifically need.
Dr. Julie Kim MD is a Board Certified Physician and is the most experienced doctor in the world for MeRT delivery. She has treated hundreds of children with ASD using MeRT.
No two cases of autism are the same. Each child is unique, and each will experience different levels of severity. And even if a child is on a similar “level” to another, or has a similar diagnosis, they can still have individual symptoms, ways of dealing with the outside world, and communication methods.
MeRT tailors each treatment to address the individual nature of autism by combining three procedures: Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS, an FDA-cleared therapy), Quantitative Electroencephalogram (qEEG), and an Electrocardiogram (ECG/EKG).
With MeRT, the EEG will show electrical signals in the brain of a child with autism that differ from those of a child who does not have ASD.
From this EEG, we can then see the specific areas to address. As a result, we can customize TMS treatment for each child based on the results of their EEG.
We also tailor that treatment as to frequency, location, and power used. We do this with gentle magnetic waves which balance and stimulate brain function.
MeRT protocols work by delivering gentle magnetic pulses to specific areas of the brain, which feel like taps on the head. By doing this, we optimize brain communication, helping it to be more organized and in sync.
This can allow the child to be higher functioning, and in most cases, to have better communication skills, social skills, and more independence. This, in turn, means a higher quality of life for both the patient and the caregiver.
“This place is amazing. The people are wonderful. As a mother of a 31 year old autistic son, this place has given me hope. My son is doing much better and we are excited about our future. Seeing changes in him that I only dreamed of. The staff is incredible. Thank you so much!”

MeRT as a treatment for Autism was featured on “The Doctors” TV show. Dr. Spencer O. Miller, who has been using this treatment in his clinic in Dallas, explained the treatment in more detail. Mothers of children with autism also spoke about their experiences. To see the video of this show, click the link below.
According to patients—and their parents—MeRT treatment can be life-changing.* Benefits can include:
As MeRT is a relatively new treatment, you may have many questions as to whether it’s the right treatment for your child. We know this isn’t a light decision, and we understand. That’s why your first step is to get all the information you need so you can make an informed decision. And that’s as simple as a free phone consultation with our New Patient Coordinator.
In this consultation, she will discuss your child’s symptoms and history. She’ll also answer any questions you have and explain the treatment in full, including all fees and protocols.
Then, once you decide to take the next step, we will set up two separate appointments, one for testing and one for consultation. Each of these appointments will last 45 minutes to an hour. After these first two appointments, your child will have an assessment period where the actual procedure and monitoring take place.
Your first appointment will consist of two simple tests, a qEEG and an EKG. These tests are easy, painless, and performed right in our office. For the EEG, we place a cap on your child’s head to measure the electrical activity in your brain and map out any areas not performing as they should. We also perform an EKG to record the heart’s electrical signals.
Once we perform these tests, our team will carefully analyze the results. Based on this analysis, we develop a treatment plan customized to your child’s specific condition and schedule the assessment period of treatment.
After the tests are complete and we’ve reviewed and analyzed them, you will have a one-on-one consultation. You can do this virtually from the comfort of your home. We will discuss your test results and treatment protocols, answer any remaining questions, and let you know more about what to expect during your child’s assessment period.
During the two-week assessment period, we will perform a short period of treatment. This treatment will be Monday through Friday for the first week, and Monday through Friday the second week. On Friday of the second week, we will perform another set of tests to see how your child is responding. We then determine progress based on the new EEG results compared to the initial one, as well as symptom improvements.
If we see a positive response to treatment during the assessment period, you will have likely noticed some improvements starting to take place. At that point, we will schedule additional MeRT treatment in two-week intervals.
At the end of every two weeks, we will perform a qEEG/EKG to monitor progress; you will have a consultation to confirm that changes are still showing on the testing.
Most conditions treated with MeRT provide noticeable and long-lasting results after four to eight weeks of treatment; however, each patient is different, and results may vary.

You may still have a lot of questions about whether MeRT is the right treatment for your child. And our New Patient Coordinator is here to help you! She’ll take the time to listen, answer questions, explain costs, and go over all of the details. She can also assist you in scheduling testing and a consultation with the doctor to help determine if your child may benefit from MeRT.

The CDC estimates that autism affects one in 54 children. And no two cases of autism are the same. Each child is unique and experiences different levels of severity. Here are some common symptoms:
At this time, we are out of network and cannot file insurance on your behalf. We can provide you with the appropriate paperwork at the end of your treatment. You can submit it to your insurance company to see if they would provide you with any reimbursement.
Currently, the FDA has cleared rTMS for Depression and OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.) Treatment for all other conditions is “off-label.” For non-FDA-approved treatment, it is not likely that insurance will provide reimbursement for our protocols.
Some patients have reported that they have been able to receive some reimbursement for EEGs or clinical evaluations. But, this depends on their health coverage. Medicare patients have reported that their coverage provides no reimbursement for MeRT.
we offer a 10 or 12 month in house financing option with 0% interest (inquire for more details).
Early signs of autism in children may include delayed speech, limited eye contact, repetitive behaviors, sensory sensitivities, and difficulties with social interactions.
Treatments for children with autism often include behavioral therapy (such as Applied Behavioral Analysis/ABA), speech therapy, occupational therapy, and in some cases, medication to manage symptoms.
Each child’s needs and abilities are unique. Various forms of therapy performed by behavioral technicians may improve social skills. Some methods to help your child with autism develop social skills at home include engaging in social role-playing activities and involving them in structured peer activities with guidance.
MeRT Therapy, or Magnetic e-Resonance Therapy, aims to improve brain function in children with autism by using magnetic stimulation to target specific areas of the brain, potentially improving communication and behavior.
MeRT Therapy may help reduce stimming by targeting the brainwave patterns associated with repetitive behaviors, though results can vary depending on the individual child.
MeRT, or Magnetic e-Resonance Therapy, uses a three-part protocol that measures, analyzes, and improves brain function. The three parts are:
This non-invasive test is also called “brain mapping.” We simply place a cap on your head to map your unique brainwaves.
While performing the qEEG, we also use an EKG to measure your heart’s electrical signals. This provides the most accurate results possible.
After analyzing your results and developing your tailored program, we place magnetic coils along your scalp to stimulate targeted brain areas.
You may still have a lot of questions about whether MeRT is the right treatment for you. And our New Patient Coordinator is here to help you! She’ll take the time to listen, answer questions, explain costs, and put your mind at ease. She can also assist you in getting scheduled should you decide to move forward with treatment.
